Denver ready to fine Veo for sidewalk riding violations

The fine enforcement system will start soon, according to the mayor's office. Denver's mayor, Mike Johnston, has announced that Veo, the city's sole e-scooter and bike street rental service, will be fined for sidewalk riding violations starting Nov. 1. The issue has been an issue since the introduction of rentable e-cooters in the city in 2018, particularly in downtown and denser neighborhoods. Veo has committed to deploying technology that can detect and stop riding on sidewalks, but sidewalk riding remains an ongoing concern. The fine system will be implemented by the city, which can report riders on sidewalks to the city. The announcement did not specify how the fine system would be implemented.
