Man dies after shootout with police in north Denver

At least seven Denver police officers and a man suspected of domestic violence exchanged shots for “several minutes,” Deputy Chief Aaron Sanchez said. A man has died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound after a shootout with Denver police following a domestic violence call. The incident occurred at a home in the 1300 block of East 33rd Avenue, which was reported as a domestic disturbance. The officers initially spoke with the suspect, whom they suspected of domestic violence, for 20 minutes before he shot at them from inside the home. The man then shot again and seven officers returned fire, which led to several volleys of gunfire. One officer was minorly injured in the exchange. A woman came out of the home to tell police the man had killed himself.
