House Speaker Mike Johnson calls Gabe Evans "that good" on campaign trail
The Republican leader made two campaign stops in Longmont. House Speaker Mike Johnson praised Republican Rep. Gabe Evans during a campaign stop in northern Colorado, suggesting that he could one day take his office. This praise comes as Republicans are relying on Evans to secure Colorado's 8th District seat and maintain their House majority. However, with President Trump's approval ratings and Democrats gaining ground nationally, Evans faces a tough fight. Johnson dismissed predictions of trouble for his party, stating that the polls are unreliable and that Republicans can still win tight races. Meanwhile, Latino voters, a key voting bloc in Evans' district, have also soured on Trump. The midterms could be a bloodbath for Republicans, but a visit from Johnson indicates the need to retain support.
