Denver minimum wage rises to $19.29 in 2026

Wages for tipped workers will also grow, despite pressure from the governor. Denver's minimum wage will increase from $18.81 to $19.29 per hour starting on New Year's Day, more than twice the national minimum wage and the highest in the state. Despite pressure from Colorado Gov. Jared Polis and other lawmakers to lower the tipped minimum wage, Denver lawmakers declined to intervene. The increase in tipped minimum wages has been controversial as it has risen alongside the regular minimum wage. However, a recent state law allows cities to freeze or lower this minimum, even if they are raising the regular wage. All workers, regardless of immigration status, must be paid minimum wage; exceptions include food and beverage workers.
